Everyone and their mother has made predictions about what the future holds for office space. We know one thing for sure:

the office post-COVID will be a very different environment!

Employees will want to feel safe and sound, expecting nothing less than contactless entryways, elevator access, and sanitizing stations. Lounges and cafes to collaborate and schmooze will be a priority as well. We all became top chefs in quarantine, right?

Landlords have been toying with these ideas, trying to get tenants back into the office but a few are ahead of the game.

  • Tishman Speyer is offering tenants non-COVID-related perks such as discounted manicures, grocery deliveries as well as cocktail hours, and holiday giveaways.
  • Related Companies is in the process of creating outdoor workspaces in Hudson Yards as well as on-site COVID testing and child care initiatives.
  • Scared to hop back on public transportation? Silverstein Properties has Uber, Via, and parking discounts as well as dry cleaning services and yoga studios.

The future of office space will be making employees happier and excited about coming to work. No one wants to have FOMO after a year + in lockdown!
