Perkins&Will has signed a 15-year, 50,680-square-foot lease at the Altman Building, according to Commercial Observer. The lease covers the full second through fifth floors at 135 West 18th Street in Chelsea.
The agreement will relocate Perkins&Will from 1250 Broadway and give the firm the entire office component of the five-story property. The move also supports the consolidation of the firm’s New York City operations following its merger with Architecture Plus Information.
Built in 1896 as a carriage house, 135 West 18th Street combines historic character with a layout suited to Perkins&Will’s design-focused workplace. The 50,680-square-foot transaction is a notable long-term commitment to the Altman Building, with the firm set to occupy floors two through five.
